Chiara Bardelli, our Italian teacher and friend, lives in Mindelheim, Germany, and has been coming to Reading Retreats in Rural Italy for several years. Born and raised in Verbania, (on Lago Maggiore), she teaches all levels of Italian to small groups of people. Her students are usually German, but not always. Courses are taught in Italian, so anyone can participate. In addition to hours of language lessons in the garden, Chiara takes her students to visit nearby towns, teaches them Italian history, culture, and classic Italian cooking, and somehow makes learning everyday, useful expressions easy and fun. Then gently, she’ll increase your vocabulary while improving your grammar.
Proof of Chiara’s popularity and success as a professional Italian teacher (and freindly group leader) is many of her students return year after year. There is a great spirit of comradeship when Chiara is here. We all work as a team, and while everyone’s Italian continues to improve, my attempts to speak German become futile. Clark Lawrence
